Rockford Juvenile Charged in January 2023 Shooting
ROCKFORD, IL – On January 6, 2023, at 1:53 a.m., Rockford Police responded to the 1100 block
of Irving Avenue for a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, Rockford Police officers
located a 17-year-old male suffering from two gunshot wounds to his chest and back.
The Rockford Police Department’s Gang Crime Unit conducted a follow-up investigation into the
incident, and identified the suspect as a 16-year-old juvenile male. After a review of the facts of
the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the charges listed below.
On Wednesday, June 29, 2023, members of the Rockford Police Gang Crime Unit and Intel Unit,
located and arrested the juvenile suspect in the 3100 block of Parkside Avenue. He was taken into
custody and lodged in the Juvenile Detention Center.

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Armed Robbery
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
