UPDATE from the Rockford PD:
UPDATE: ARRESTED

– In the past few weeks, there have been multiple reports of Burglaries, Attempted
Burglaries, Criminal Trespass to Residences, and Suspicious Incidents on the west side of Rockford
as stated in our Weekend Incidents Release that came out on Monday, September 18, 2023. The
release also contained photos of a person of interest. Detectives with the Financial and Property
Crimes Unit, as well as the Sensitive Crimes Unit, began an investigation into the incidents as
soon as they were reported.

On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Rockford Police Detectives, along with the assistance of
Patrol and SCOPE Officers, were able to identify a suspect in the incidents as 29-year-old Darryl
Brooks. He was taken into custody today and lodged in the County Jail.
The cases were reviewed with The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office who authorized
the charges listed below.

Darryl Brooks, 29, Rockford
Residential Burglary (2 counts)

Felony Criminal Trespass to Residence (3 counts)
Attempted Criminal Trespass

As with any and all investigations, there may be future charges and arrests.
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.

If you have any information on the second subject, or other information regarding this incident or
