Update from Rockford FD:
On Monday night at 11:16pm, RFD responded to the 3500 block of East State Street for a report of a commercial structure fire. First arriving companies report heavy smoke and fire visible from the roof. Crews made entry and located the fire in the kitchen. Crews quickly brought the blaze under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Allegedly What Happened: Possible Commercial Structure Fire
Alleged Location: 3511 E State St/Chicken Hop restaurant
Alleged Time: 11:15 pm
At approximately 11:15 this evening emergency personnel were called to 3511 E State Street, at the “Chicken Hop” restaurant, for reports of a possible commercial structure fire.
Upon arrival smoke could be seen coming from the roof and from inside the building.
The Rockford Fire Department is on scene and it appears they currently have the fire under control.
No injuries have been reported as of the time of this article.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
We will update as further information is released.
Avoid the area for awhile.
