Rockford Man Charged with Weapons Offenses

ROCKFORD, IL – On Friday, September 22, 2023, at approximately 9:44 a.m., members of the
Rockford Police Gang Crime Unit and Rockford Police Narcotics Unit conducted a search warrant
in the 1300 block of 6th Avenue. During the course of the search, two loaded firearms were
located and recovered from inside a residence, one of which was modified to fire fully-automatic.

The facts of this case were reviewed with The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, and
the charges below were authorized. Tyus was taken into custody and lodged in the County Jail.

Knawledge Tyus, 20, Rockford Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun
Possession of a Firearm without Requisite FOID
Probation Violation Warrant

As with any and all investigations, there may be future charges and arrests.
The charges are merely accusations, and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
