In the early hours of Sunday, July 7, 2025, Rockford Police responded to a reported party in the 3400 block of Greendale Drive, resulting in the arrest of a 17-year-old male found in possession of a loaded firearm.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., patrol officers arrived at the scene and encountered a large crowd gathered outside a residence. During their response, officers observed a teenage male exiting a vehicle and fleeing on foot. The individual was apprehended a short distance away and was found to be carrying a loaded handgun equipped with an extended magazine.
Following a review of the incident, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized several charges against the juvenile, including:

Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon

Obstructing
-
No Valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card
The 17-year-old suspect, a Rockford resident, has been lodged at the Juvenile Detention Center. In addition to the arrest, several juveniles at the scene were cited for curfew violations.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and further charges or arrests may follow.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are merely allegations at this stage. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
En la madrugada del domingo 7 de julio de 2025, la Policía de Rockford respondió a un reporte de una fiesta en la cuadra 3400 de Greendale Drive, lo que resultó en el arresto de un joven de 17 años que se encontraba en posesión de un arma de fuego cargada.
Aproximadamente a las 3:45 a. m., agentes de patrulla llegaron al lugar y se encontraron con una gran multitud reunida frente a una residencia. Durante su respuesta, los agentes observaron a un adolescente salir de un vehículo y huir a pie. El individuo fue detenido a poca distancia y se le encontró portando una pistola cargada con un cargador extendido.
Tras revisar el incidente, la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Winnebago autorizó varios cargos contra el menor, incluyendo:
Posesión Ilícita Agravada de un Arma
Obstrucción
Carnet de Identificación de Propietario de Arma de Fuego (FOID) Sin Válido
El sospechoso de 17 años, residente de Rockford, ha sido ingresado en el Centro de Detención Juvenil. Además del arresto, varios menores que se encontraban en el lugar recibieron citaciones por violación del toque de queda.
