On Friday, November 18, 2022, at
approximately 9:30 p.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle
with three occupants, in the 2200 block of Shelley Drive.
The driver, identified as Martavion Staff,
was found to have multiple outstanding warrants.
During the investigation, officers located and recovered a loaded handgun,
reported stolen out of Winnebago County, a loaded drum magazine, cannabis, and multiple Xanax pills and additionally, one of the passengers, later identified as Davonte Williams, was found to have over 4 grams of cocaine on his person.
Williams and Staff were taken into custody and lodged in the County Jail.
The third occupant was
released without charges.
After a review of the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized
the charges listed below.
Davonte Williams, 24, Rockford
Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (2 cts.)
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon
Armed Violence
Martavion Staff, 30, Rockford
Outstanding Warrants
Various Traffic Offenses
