On Saturday, August 3, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m.,
Rockford Police SCOPE officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of
12th Avenue and Sixth Street when the front passenger, Jayvon Jones, ran off. He was
taken into custody a short time later and lodged in the County Jail. During the
investigation, SCOPE officers located and recovered a loaded handgun and over 100
grams of cannabis. Another passenger, Dauris King, was found to have an outstanding
weapons warrant and was also lodged.
After a review of the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.
