Charge in December 2021 Murder
On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the
Rockford Police Department responded to an apartment building in the 500 block of S.
2nd Street in reference to a shooting victim, later identified as Robert Bingenheimer, who
was found lying in the entryway. Officers were advised that Bingenheimer was last seen
in a verbal altercation outside of a residence nearby just before shots were fired. A short
time later, he was pronounced deceased.
Rockford Police Violent Crimes Detectives continued the investigation into the murder
and identified the suspect as Marnell Fulton. Fulton is in custody in the Cook County Jail
on unrelated charges.

As with any investigations, further details and charges may come at a later date.
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless
proven guilty in a court of law.
