Rockford PD Release:
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at approximately
6:45 p.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers conducted a traffic stop in the 5400 block of East State
Street. During the stop, officers located and recovered two handguns, one reported stolen out of
Boone County. Both occupants, Erik Mendoza-Ballesteros and Saivianna Rowell, were taken into
custody and lodged in the County Jail.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized
the charges listed below.
Erik Mendoza Ballesteros, 22, Beloit, WI
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Possession of a Defaced Firearm
Saivianna Rowell, 21, Beloit, WI
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
