Note from the Mayor
Last month, I provided the annual State of the City address to the community.
There are a lot of incredible things happening right here in our own community.
If you watch the recording, I hope you take away one clear message – our efforts our working.
Here are some examples:
In 2023, we saw a 20% reduction in violent crime from the prior year.
Since taking office, we have seen a 34% reduction in violent crime and a 29% reduction in property crime.
Our residents’ perception of crime has also improved.
The Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau recently conducted a study on perceptions.
From 2018 to 2023, the amount of residents who felt safe increased by 70%.
Since 2017, our residents are now making more money.
We’ve seen a 20% increase in median household income.
In 2023, we had 7,000 more jobs than we did just three years ago.
Last year alone, we had $377 million in construction projects. That’s up from $165 million in 2022.
Our crime is going down, our residents’ income is going up and new businesses and developments are all around us.
I’m excited to see what the future has in store for this great community!
