As you know, our area has a lot of different wildtypes in it.

Some are natural, some are released into the wild.

Over the last few years, we have been getting more and more
Reports of alleged big feline reports in Winnebago County.

The most recent reports are coming from the Rock River area,
Near the Roscoe, Illinois area.

Mainly along the Rock River, and North Second st areas.

One witness sent us this video.

Report:

”  I recorded this video near Bridge street in Roscoe on 05-12-24. I saw it as I walked to my car. I startled it and it hissed at me from about 35 ft away. Black with big glowing yellow eyes, 3-4 ft long + tail. I got in my car, backed out of the driveway, pulled out my phone and recorded it as it walked away. Not a perfect video due to low lighting and distance. (I was in fear shock or I’d have better footage).

This was the third time I’ve seen one since last May when my daughter and I watched a hundred pounder walk through my back yard in broad daylight. Sending you screenshots of fb posts from last year also because it shows my neighbor from down the street posted in neighborhood watch group that her and her daughter also saw it just three week later.

A friend suggested that the smoke from the Canadian fires last year likely displaced some wildlife and pushed them towards us. I agree that sounds very possible. But I haven’t yet convinced the IDNR so I’m determined to get better videos or pics. Maybe you could ask your fb fans to bust out their cameras and see what they can do. The public should know to watch their kids and small pets near the river and woods near Machesney park and Roscoe.

Does anybody have any idea what it may be?

When we talked to officials, they have said all the reports are false.
So, A LOT of witnesses all reporting the same thing, lying?
Hard to believe, especially after watching the video below…
