Reports of Panic After Possible Gun Sighting
Sadly, Rockford PD chooses to push: CRIME IS DOWN, because it is election year to make the mayor and police look good. Hundreds of children fleeing for their lives, and Rockford PD, says "Nothing Happened" Food for thought.....
Personal note: I have talked to the owner of Flow, in the past. He is a professional upstanding guy, during the few minutes I did talk to him. He was honest, and said we are so popular that at times, there is so many kids having fun, That it is impossible, for something not to happen. Usually just some fist fights, words exchanged. My personal opinion: I think that is what happened tonight. Disorderly people.
I just find it extremely sad, that Rockford PD can not be HONEST with our community, and chooses encryption and lies.
To all you haters that say I do NOT research, before I post.
This is my text message to the Rockford PD PIO officer, asking about what happened. And as you can see, she has not (And probably WILL NOT) respond.
Even though Rockford PD told me if I had any questions, they would respond with an answer.
Do you see a response???
Rockford PD claims transparency.
But pushes "Crime is Down"
And everything has become "Domestic" related.
To make crime appear to go down.
And more money for the Peace Center.
Do your research...
I tried to get answers, for HONESTY and TRANSPARENCY.
Sadly, Rockford PD chooses encryption and silence.
Feel free to call the Rockford PD and ask yourself:
815-966-2900
I think Michelle, would be pissed if I gave out her number.
So, you all have to call 815-966-2900
Sad, that police can not just be HONEST with our community.
But I have become the bad guy, because I ask questions to get answers. And asking questions, makes you bad these days in Rockford. Food for thought.

Rockford Police Respond to Multiple Incidents Across the City, According to 72-Hour Dispatch Call Log
Please note: Rockford PD are encrypted. And have not yet released any information on any of these.
Information from the public dispatch records published on the Rockford Police Department 72-hour call log through the Illinois Data Portal shows several incidents that required police attention across different neighborhoods in Rockford over the past few days. The incidents include reports of shots fired, calls involving potential life-safety concerns, a reported battery with a weapon, and a medical assistance request. The following information is based strictly on publicly available dispatch data.
Shots Fired Investigation – Sandy Hollow Road
According to dispatch records, Rockford Police were called to the 900 block of Sandy Hollow Road on March 11, 2026, at approximately 10:14 PM. The call was logged under incident number 26-051455 and categorized as “Shots Fired.” The location falls within Reporting District RPD D2.
A “shots fired” classification typically indicates that police received reports of gunfire in the area or evidence suggesting shots may have been discharged. Dispatch logs do not always confirm whether anyone was injured or whether a suspect was located, as those details are often determined later through police investigations.
Police commonly respond to such calls by checking the area for victims, witnesses, or physical evidence such as shell casings. At this time, the dispatch log confirms the initial response but does not include additional investigative outcomes.
Person Life Safety Call – Gramercy Drive
A second call occurred shortly after midnight on March 13, 2026, when officers were dispatched to 343 Gramercy Drive. The incident, recorded as case number 26-052343, was classified as “In Progress – Person Life Safety.” The call was logged at 12:11 AM within Reporting District RPD D3.
Calls involving person life safety typically indicate that dispatchers received information suggesting someone may be at risk of immediate harm or requires urgent police attention. Situations that can fall under this category may include welfare checks, threats, or other circumstances where officers must quickly assess safety.
Dispatch records confirm the time and location of the response. Additional details about the outcome of the call are generally released later through official reports or investigations.
Life Safety Call – East State Street
Another person life safety call was reported the previous evening on March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:13 PM. Officers were dispatched to the 6200 block of East State Street, specifically 6233 East State Street, under incident number 26-052248. The call was also categorized as “In Progress – Person Life Safety” and occurred within RPD District D3.
Calls along major corridors such as East State Street can draw a quick response due to the volume of nearby businesses and residential areas. In situations involving potential life safety concerns, officers typically prioritize immediate scene assessment to ensure individuals involved are safe and determine whether additional resources are needed.
The dispatch data confirms the response time and classification but does not provide investigative results.
Battery with Weapon Report – Flintridge Drive
On March 11, 2026, at approximately 2:22 PM, officers responded to the 100 block of Flintridge Drive following a report categorized as “Battery with Weapon – Report.” The incident was recorded as case number 26-051152 within RPD District D3.
A battery with a weapon report generally indicates that a complainant reported an alleged incident involving physical harm or the threat of harm where a weapon may have been involved. In many cases, officers gather statements from the reporting party and any witnesses while documenting the incident for investigative follow-up.
Because this call type was logged as a report, it may indicate that officers were documenting an incident that had already occurred rather than responding to an active confrontation.
Medical Assist – Latham Street
Police also assisted with a medical situation on March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:24 PM, in the 1900 block of Latham Street. Dispatch logs show the call occurred at 1915 Latham Street under incident number 26-052256 in RPD District D1.
The call type was listed as “Medical Assist.” In many communities, police officers frequently respond alongside fire or emergency medical personnel to assist in medical emergencies. Officers may help secure the scene, provide immediate aid, or assist paramedics during patient care and transportation.
Medical assistance calls are common across many jurisdictions and reflect coordinated responses between police and emergency medical services.
Public Safety Response Across the Community
Dispatch records like these illustrate the wide range of calls officers handle daily across the city—from safety checks and investigations to assisting residents during emergencies. Each entry in the 72-hour call log represents an initial response recorded by dispatchers, and further details often emerge later through official reports or investigations.
Community members who see emergency activity in their neighborhoods are encouraged to rely on verified information sources and official updates whenever possible.

Investigators note that the case remains active and ongoing. As with many complex investigations, additional arrests or charges may be possible as new information develops.
Officials are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Rockford Police Department.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are merely accusations. All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Initial reports indicate multiple patients may have been exposed to a chemical substance. The exact nature of the substance and the severity of the injuries have not yet been officially confirmed.
The response includes personnel from the Byron Fire Protection District along with numerous additional agencies operating under the regional Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS). A second alarm specifically requesting ambulances suggests that multiple patients may require medical evaluation or transport.
At this time, it is unknown whether the incident occurred inside a secured area of the plant or elsewhere on the property. There has not yet been any official statement indicating a radiation release or nuclear-related emergency.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission maintains strict oversight of nuclear facilities such as the Byron station, and plants are designed with multiple layers of safety systems to contain nuclear materials. Early reports circulating among emergency communications indicate the incident may involve a chemical exposure rather than anything related to the nuclear reactor systems, though this has not been independently confirmed.
As of this report:
Multiple ambulances have been requested under a 2nd alarm EMS response
Several patients are reportedly being evaluated for possible chemical exposure
Numerous emergency personnel are on scene
No confirmed threat to the surrounding community has been announced
Officials have not yet issued any public safety alerts or shelter-in-place instructions for residents in Byron or nearby communities such as Rockford, Stillman Valley, or Oregon.
The Byron facility, operated by Constellation Energy, is one of Illinois’ major nuclear power plants and has been in operation since the mid-1980s.
Residents are encouraged to remain calm while authorities assess the situation. Emergency responses involving industrial or chemical exposures at large facilities often trigger precautionary medical responses even when the broader public is not at risk.
Rockford Scanner will continue monitoring official communications and emergency channels for verified updates.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as confirmed information becomes available.
It is alleged that ast week the Byron Nuclear Power Plant began a refueling and maintenance outage on Unit One.
Coolant selection is intricately linked to the design and type of the nuclear reactor. To mitigate the corrosion of structural materials, the water chemistry of the primary circuit must be carefully managed. Usually, substances such as hydrogen, ammonia, and hydrazine are employed in the reactor's primary coolant. Among these additives, ammonia and hydrazine, which are nitrogen-containing additives, undergo a series of radiolysis reactions in the reactor, and the oxidation environment of the system is altered. In this review, published studies on the radiolytic behavior of ammonia and hydrazine were summarized and analyzed. For ammonia coolants, the ·OH radicals produced by water radiolysis react rapidly with NH3. The radiolysis product of ammonia, ·NH2 reacted with oxidizing species such as H2O2, ·OH, and O2. Under aerobic conditions, the radiolysis of ammonia solutions primarily led to the production of NOx−. For hydrazine coolants, NH3, H2, and N2 were formed by thermal decomposition and radiolysis. N2H4 directly inhibited the formation of H2O2 and nitrogen oxides due to its strong reducibility and ability to remove O2, ·OH, and H2O2. As the irradiation continued, NH3 was consumed and its concentration decreased, the pH of coolant tended to decrease with further increases in absorbed dose.

Science Raises Questions About Environmental Impact
🚨 Proposed Multi-Billion Dollar AI Data Center Near Rockford Raises Environmental and Public Safety Questions
A massive artificial-intelligence data center development proposed for the Rockford region is raising serious questions about environmental impact, infrastructure strain, and long-term public safety.
The project, connected to Monarch Energy, involves building one of the largest powered data center campuses in the Midwest. Plans outline a large industrial campus capable of supporting over 1,200 megawatts of electrical capacity, with infrastructure connected to major high-voltage transmission systems and development expected to energize later this decade.
Projects of this scale are designed to power the rapidly expanding artificial-intelligence industry — but scientists warn the environmental footprint of AI infrastructure is growing quickly.
What the Science Says About AI Data Centers
Researchers and environmental scientists say hyperscale data centers can create major impacts on electric grids, water resources, air quality, and carbon emissions.
One major concern is electricity demand.
Studies show data centers already account for more than 4% of total electricity use in the United States, with demand expected to grow significantly as AI systems expand.
Because of the massive computing power required for AI training and processing, a single large campus can require electricity comparable to tens or even hundreds of thousands of homes.
If the power grid cannot meet that demand through renewable sources, utilities may need to expand generation capacity — sometimes through natural gas or other fossil-fuel power plants.
Massive Water Consumption
Another growing concern is water usage.
Many large data centers rely on water-based cooling systems to prevent thousands of servers from overheating.
Research shows some large facilities can consume up to 5 million gallons of water per day, roughly equivalent to the water needs of a town with 10,000 to 50,000 residents.
National projections suggest hyperscale data centers could consume 16 to 33 billion gallons of water per year in the United States by 2028.
Experts warn that heavy water usage in concentrated areas can place additional strain on municipal water systems and aquifers.
Environmental and Public Health Concerns
Beyond electricity and water use, researchers are also studying the broader environmental effects of the AI boom.
Scientific studies estimate the global AI ecosystem could produce tens of millions of tons of carbon emissions annually, depending on the energy sources used to power the data centers.
Some research also suggests that emissions tied to AI infrastructure — including power generation and manufacturing — could contribute to air pollution and public health impacts in surrounding communities.
Environmental organizations and policy researchers have warned that the rapid expansion of data centers is outpacing environmental oversight and infrastructure planning in many regions.
Economic Opportunity vs Community Impact
Supporters of projects like the one proposed in the Rockford area say large technology campuses can bring major economic benefits.
Developers often highlight potential advantages such as:
• large capital investment • construction jobs • increased property tax revenue • infrastructure improvements
According to Monarch Energy, their powered-land developments are designed to support economic growth and provide long-term infrastructure investment in host communities.
However, critics argue communities must carefully examine the long-term costs related to energy demand, environmental impact, and public infrastructure strain before approving projects of this magnitude.
A Question Many Residents Are Asking
As discussions about major AI infrastructure projects expand across the country, many communities are debating a key question:
Should economic development take priority — or should public safety and environmental protection come first?
With billions of dollars potentially at stake, the debate is likely to continue as more details about the Rockford-area proposal emerge.
A massive high-tech development proposal tied to AI and hyperscale computing could bring billions of dollars in investment to the Rockford region. But emerging scientific research suggests that projects of this size may also create serious environmental and infrastructure challenges for local communities.
Developers connected to the project, including Monarch Energy, are working on large-scale digital infrastructure designed to support the explosive growth of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The planned campus could include over 1,200 megawatts of electrical capacity, making it one of the largest power-ready data center sites in the Midwest.
Supporters say the project could generate tax revenue, construction jobs, and economic development, potentially transforming the area into a major technology hub. Developers often highlight that data center projects can stimulate local economies by creating supporting jobs in construction, electrical work, HVAC systems, restaurants, and real estate.
However, independent research and environmental studies are raising significant concerns about the long-term impacts of hyperscale data centers on local communities.
What the Science Says About Data Centers
Modern AI data centers require enormous amounts of electricity, water, and cooling infrastructure.
According to research published in ScienceDirect, the environmental footprint of artificial intelligence infrastructure is rapidly increasing worldwide.
One major issue is power consumption.
Researchers estimate that data centers already consume about 4% of all electricity in the United States, and that demand could more than double by 2030 as artificial intelligence expands.
Large AI-focused facilities can use electricity comparable to 100,000 homes, and the largest new campuses can consume 20 times more than that.
Electricity demand is not just a technical issue — it can affect the public.
Experts warn that rapid expansion of energy-hungry data centers may lead to:
• Increased electricity costs for residents • Strain on regional power grids • Additional power plants or infrastructure upgrades
In some regions, electricity demand from data centers has already triggered billions of dollars in power grid expansion costs, which can ultimately be passed on to consumers.
Water Consumption: Another Major Concern
Cooling thousands of high-powered computer servers requires significant amounts of water.
Scientific estimates show that:
• U.S. data centers currently consume about 17 billion gallons of water per year • Future AI data centers could dramatically increase that demand • Some facilities require millions of gallons of water per day for cooling systems
A 2026 research analysis warned that the rapid growth of AI infrastructure could require hundreds of millions of gallons of new water capacity per day nationwide, potentially placing pressure on local municipal water systems.
Because data centers concentrate energy and water use in one location, the impacts are often felt most strongly by the host community.
Carbon Emissions and Environmental Footprint
Another issue raised by researchers is the carbon footprint of AI infrastructure.
A 2025 scientific analysis estimated that the global AI ecosystem could produce 32.6 to 79.7 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, depending on energy sources used to power the data centers.
Researchers say that environmental transparency is still limited because many technology companies do not publicly disclose detailed energy or water usage data for their facilities.
Why Companies Want Locations Like Rockford
Despite the concerns, regions like Rockford are highly attractive for these projects.
Key factors include:
• Access to major electrical transmission lines • Industrial-zoned land capable of large development • Rail and interstate connections • Proximity to major internet fiber routes • Access to the Chicago Rockford International Airport and cargo infrastructure
Local leaders have also previously discussed potential energy-related projects tied to Monarch Energy in the Rockford region, highlighting the area’s strategic infrastructure advantages.
The Bigger Question Facing Local Leadership
Projects like this often create a difficult balancing act for local governments.
On one hand:
• billions of dollars in investment • potential tax revenue • economic growth
On the other hand:
•Citizens getting CANCER * environmental impacts • strain on electricity grids • heavy water usage • long-term infrastructure costs
Communities across the United States are now debating these same questions as the race to build AI infrastructure accelerates.
A Question Many Residents Are Asking
As discussions continue around the proposed Rockford-area development, residents and community observers are increasingly asking a fundamental question:
Are local leaders prioritizing economic investment — or the long-term public safety and environmental health of the region?
That debate is now playing out in communities across the country as AI infrastructure rapidly expands.
