first responders—both the commendable and those less so.
I’ve always stood firmly against misconduct and wholeheartedly supported officers of integrity.
In that spirit, I want to extend my profound respect to Brian.
From our first interaction, Brian has shown me nothing but respect.
Even showing at my dads funeral,
To pay his respects.
He has always been honest, straightforward, and deeply professional.
It is with deep sorrow that I learned he is now facing a grave challenge:

For over 43 years, Deputy Chief Brian Kunce was the one running toward the danger.
Serving the communities of the North Park Fire Protection District,
he has answered thousands of calls, protected countless lives,
and mentored generations of firefighters who proudly follow in his footsteps.
Now, Chief Kunce faces his own Mayday call—a battle against stage 4 cancer.
This is the toughest fight of his life, and he shouldn’t have to face it alone.
Throughout his distinguished career, Chief Kunce has been a rock—a steady leader known for his deep knowledge and unwavering commitment to service.
He is the kind of firefighter you always want by your side on a tough call, the leader who always had your back.
He has been a pillar of the fire service and an inspiration to all who know him.
The brotherhood of firefighters and the communities he so bravely served are now rallying to answer his call.
We are uniting to support Brian and his family, helping to ease the financial burden of this fight so they can focus on what truly matters: healing.
