The Rockford Police Department has made multiple arrests following a month-long investigation into a string of armed robberies that took place across the city.
Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit were able to connect three separate incidents and identify the suspects involved,
ultimately leading to several arrests and criminal charges.
The armed robberies occurred on the following dates and locations:

Saturday, December 28, 2024 — 4000 block of Harrison Avenue

Thursday, January 30, 2025 — 800 block of 7th Street

Thursday, February 6, 2025 — 1100 block of Railroad Avenue
In each case, two suspects approached the victims and robbed them at gunpoint, stealing their money and phones.
In the first incident, the suspects allegedly arranged a cannabis sale with the victims before the robbery.
In the latter two incidents, the victims were targeted while walking in the area and were followed by the suspects before being robbed.
Through investigative work, detectives identified Elijah Woodson, 22, and his brother Marquel Woodson, 21, as suspects in all three cases.
Arrest warrants were obtained, and police later determined the suspects were residing at a home in the 1200 block of 6th Avenue.
On the day of the arrest, detectives arrived at the residence and encountered Maurice Woodson, 23, the older brother of Elijah and Marquel, at the front door. After being advised of the search warrant, Maurice refused to open the metal storm door. Officers forced entry and took him into custody. Elijah and Marquel were also found inside the home.
During the search, detectives recovered two loaded firearms, and later determined that both Marquel and Maurice had previously possessed the weapons illegally. Additionally, investigators found 14 baggies of cannabis in the bedroom of Swennekia Woodson, 18, the sister of the Woodson brothers. Another individual, Omareon Loper, 22, was also discovered hiding inside the house. Loper had an active failure-to-appear warrant related to a DUI charge.
Following a review by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, the following charges were authorized:

All five individuals were lodged at the Winnebago County Jail. Police indicated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges or arrests may be forthcoming.

En cada caso, dos sospechosos abordaron a las víctimas y las robaron a punta de pistola, robándoles su dinero y teléfonos.
En el primer incidente, se alega que los sospechosos organizaron una venta de cannabis con las víctimas antes del robo. En los dos últimos incidentes, las víctimas fueron atacadas mientras caminaban por la zona y fueron seguidas por los sospechosos antes de ser robadas.
A través del trabajo de investigación, los detectives identificaron a Elijah Woodson, de 22 años, y a su hermano Marquel Woodson, de 21 años, como sospechosos en los tres casos.
