ARRESTS MADE AFTER RETAIL THEFT
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at approximately 6:30p.m. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies responded
to a report of a retail theft in progress at Meijer, West Lane Road, Machesney Park. Upon arrival, Deputies
learned that the caller had followed a suspect, later identified as Angelo Bunkley, out of the store pushing a
cart full of merchandise he did not pay for. The suspect then got into a black Lexus. As the driver of the black
Lexus was driving away, Bunkley pointed an air soft gun out the window aiming at the caller. The suspect fired
pellets at the caller, however did not strike him.
A short time later, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the
Schnuck’s store. The suspect, Angelo Bunkley was taken into custody along the driver of the vehicle, David
Saycocie.
After a review of the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the
following charges:
Angelo D. Bunkley, age 25 of Rockford, IL.
Retail Theft Over $300
Aggravated Assault/Public Property
David Saycocie, age 37, of Rockford, IL.
Possession of Methamphetamine
Driving while Suspended/Revoked
Obstructing Identification
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The charges against Angelo Bunkley and David Saycocie are merely accusations and they are presumed
innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

El miércoles 21 de agosto de 2024 aproximadamente a las 6:30 p.m. Los agentes del sheriff del condado de Winnebago respondieron
a un informe de un robo en una tienda minorista en curso en Meijer, West Lane Road, Machesney Park. A su llegada, los diputados
se enteró de que la persona que llamó había seguido a un sospechoso, más tarde identificado como Angelo Bunkley, fuera de la tienda empujando un

The incident happened at the Meijers in Machesney Park.
Was an alleged shoplifting incident.
Police stopped the alleged suspect vehicle at the Schnucks.
Last night around 6:45 pm
In the parking lot of the Schnucks in Loves Park.
A swarm of police converged on a vehicle in the parking lot,
arresting people inside a car at Schnucks.
Sources said there was an attempted armed robbery.
