Rockford Police Fall 2024 Citizens Police Academy Starts
September 18, 2024
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford Police Department announces dates for its Fall
2024 Citizens Police Academy. The academy will run every Wednesday from
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., September 18 – November 20 at the Rockford Police
Department District Station 3 headquarters located at 557 S. New Towne Drive.
Certain classes will be at other locations around Rockford.
This year will be the biggest and best! With more interactive classes, a deeper dive
into RPD, how our officers train, a mock trial, some fun with our Traffic Unit, the
list goes on and on.
Why do we do it? The mission of the Citizens Police Academy is to build
cooperative relationships between citizens and the police through training and
education. The police academy produces a network of informed citizens who can
return to their neighborhoods to organize, encourage and mobilize others, and
to partner with police in reducing crime in Rockford. Classes include a tour of the
Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, a Rockford Police K-9 Demonstration, a tour
of the RPD Property & Evidence Facility, a visit to the 911 Center, and more.
