City of Rockford Health and Human Services Announces the End of the Energy Assistance Program

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for income qualified households ended July 26, 2024, when all allotted funds were fully expended.

ROCKFORD, Ill. – City of Rockford Health and Human Services, as administrator of the Energy Assistance Program in Boone and Winnebago Counties, announces that funds are exhausted for assisting income-eligible households with their natural gas, propane and/or electric bills and furnace assistance for inoperable heating systems. The department assisted a record-breaking number of over 12,800 households in Winnebago and Boone Counties during the 2024 program year beginning October 1, 2023. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provided a one-time benefit to income eligible homeowners and renters to help with energy bills and for reconnection of energy service.
