Public Assistance Needed in Locating Suspect in Hit & Run Fatality

ROCKFORD, IL – On Monday, August 5, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Rockford
Police officers responded to the 4900 block of East State Street for a hit and run
involving a vehicle vs. pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located 66-year-old Hoa
Huynh lying in the roadway. She was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
Rockford Police Traffic Investigators and the Intel Unit identified a suspect, Maurice
Calvanese. On August 7, 2024, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the following charges for Calvanese and a warrant was issued.

At the time of posting this,
Rockford PD said he is not currently in custody.

Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Crash
No Valid Driver’s License
Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle
Suspended Registration

The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless
proven guilty in a court of law.
