Public Assistance Needed Identifying and
“Locating a Person of Interest”
On Sunday, June 16, 2024, at approximately 10:03 p.m., Rockford Police officers
responded to 3725 East State Street for reports of numerous gunshots. At the same time, officers
were sent to the East State/Fairview area for a vehicle that struck a building at 3415 East State
Street. Officers were advised that there were numerous subjects in the parking lot of the San Jose
Restaurant when an altercation ensued that ultimately resulted in the exchange of gunfire. A short
time later, officers were also advised that two adult men arrived at local hospitals with life-
threatening gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, a 40-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries sustained in the shooting.
We need the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest.
