Allegedly What May Have Happened: Narcotics arrest leads to multiple charges
Alleged Approx. Location: Rockford/Winnebago County
Alleged Approx. Time: Thursday, February 29th 2024
NEWS RELEASE: The Winnebago County Narcotics Unit has been conducting an investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics by an individual in the 1000 block of South 5th Street, Rockford, IL.
The investigation revealed that individual as Kirby Thomas. On Thursday, February 29th, 2024 the Winnebago County Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at his residence.
During a search of the residence, crack cocaine and a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun were located. Kirby Thomas was known to be a convicted felon.
The Winnebago County States Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the case and authorized the following charges:
Kirby R. Thomas (35 years old) of Rockford, IL
1. MANUFACTURE/DELIVER 1<15 GRAMS COCAINE
2. A FELON POSSESSION/USE OF FIREARM
3. ARMED HABITUAL CRIMINAL
The charges against Kirby Thomas are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
