Good morning,

The City of Rockford have began to distribute the new garbage carts.

They are currently in the process of distributing over 100,000 new carts to the residents of Rockford.

It is going to take some time for everyone to get theirs.
Possibly, up to a few months.
Please be patient.

The crew is starting with Monday routes, and it may take up to 12 weeks to get all of the carts deployed.
Included with the carts will be important information and the answer to some of the most frequently asked questions.
Here are just a few of them:
Q – Recycling and trash carts were delivered to my home, but I do not want them. Will you take them back?
A – No. Residents must use the carts delivered for recycling and garbage moving forward.
Q – What do I do with my old bin?
A – Residents are welcome to keep bins and use for extra recyclables or for other household uses. If broken, a note can be left directing it to be collected for recycling on your collection day.
Q – Will each household only be able to put out what fits in the container?
A – Residents should fill their garbage cart first. Then, they may place additional garbage out for collection if it is containerized in garbage cans with a capacity of no more than 32-gallons and with secure lids or secured bags, each weighing no more than 50 pounds. Bulk items that will not fit in garbage cans or bags may also be placed out for collection with some restrictions. Each residential dwelling unit is allowed a single truck hopper (~3 cubic yards) per week. Volumes exceeding a single truck hopper are subject to a bulk refuse surcharge.
Q – What happens if the carts break or need to be replaced?
A – Rock River Disposal will handle the maintenance and replacement of all broken carts at no cost to the resident.
Q – Does this change impact yard waste collection?
A – There is no change to yard waste collection.
