Allegedly What May Have Happened: Shooting/Shooting Victim
Alleged Approx. Location: 910 Acorn St
Alleged Approx. Time: 5:55 pm
At approximately 5:55 this evening emergency personnel were called to the 900 block of Acorn Street in Rockford for reports of a shooting victim.
Initial reports are a male of unknown age was shot at least one time in the abdomen. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
Avoid the area while police are investigating.
Per RPD: Shooting investigation in the 900 block of Acorn. An adult male was shot and transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. Please find an alternate route while we investigate.
UPDATE Per RPD: The victim sustained serious injuries. Once we have more information, we’ll post updates.
2nd UPDATE Per RPD: The Rockford Park District is investigating a shooting that took place at approximately 5:56 pm at Fairgrounds Park, located at 450 Kilburn Avenue. Upon arrival Park District Police located a 20 year old male with life threatening injuries sustained from a apparent gunshot wound to the stomach.
He was transported to a local hospital.
At this time, the victims name is not being released. Rockford Park District Police have one suspect in custody but this remains a active investigation.
The Rockford Park District takes the safety and security of our citizens very seriously, so it is extremely unfortunate when parks or facilities are the location for unwanted activities that result in violence.
