What Allegedly Happened
Based on the current information,
That has been provided to us.
On Saturday, November 11, 2023, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers conducted a traffic stop in the Halsted/Ridge intersection. When officers turned their lights on to conduct the stop, the front
passenger, later identified as Javion Jones, exited the vehicle, and ran off. SCOPE officers pursued
Jones and took him into custody. They were also able to locate and recover a loaded handgun
with an extended magazine on his person. The firearm was reported stolen out of Indiana. The
driver of the vehicle, later identified as Hailey Pierce, also exited the vehicle and ran off. She was
taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. During the investigation, officers located a handheld
stun gun/taser, from inside of the vehicle. Jones and Pierce were subsequently lodged in the
County Jail.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.
Javion Jones, 20, Rockford
Armed Habitual Criminal
Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon
Resisting Arrest
Hailey Pierce, 24, Rockford
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Resisting Arrest
Obstructing
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
