What May Have Allegedly Happened.
Based on the current information
That has currently been provided to us.
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, at approximately
8:00 p.m., Rockford Police SCOPE officers observed a vehicle turn off their headlights and speed
through the area of N. Mulford and E. State Street. The vehicle parked in a driveway on Karls
Court where the front seat passenger, later identified as William Harris, exited the vehicle and
was taken into custody. SCOPE officers were able to locate and recover a loaded handgun, with
an extended magazine, from his person. The driver, Duntai Horner-Givens, exited the vehicle, and
was also taken into custody. Harris and Horner-Givens were lodged in the County Jail.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.
William Harris, 22, Rockford
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Gang Member
Duntai Horner-Givens, 20, Rockford
Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Gang Member
Reckless Driving
Various Other Traffic Offenses
