ROCKFORD PD RELEASE:
Weapons Charges after Traffic Stop on Forest Hills Road
ROCKFORD, IL – On Thursday, November 2, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Rockford Police
SCOPE officers conducted a traffic stop in the 5700 block of Forest Hills Road (Wildberry
Apartments) on a vehicle that had previously fled from officers. The driver and sole occupant,
Darius Pierce-Garcia, was taken into custody without incident, and lodged in the County Jail.
During the stop, SCOPE officers located and recovered a loaded handgun from inside the vehicle.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.
Darius Pierce-Garcia, 22, Rockford
Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (3 counts)
Revoked Driver’s License
As with any and all investigations, there may be additional charges and arrests.
The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
