What May Have Allegedly Happened.
Based on the current information
That has currently been provided to us.
On Friday, October 27, 2023, at approximately
12:30 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to a single vehicle crash at the N. Main and
Auburn roundabout. When officers arrived, they were advised that the male driver had left the
scene. The driver, later identified as Anthony Harris, was located a short time later with a gunshot
wound to his leg, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The gunshot wound
appeared to be self-inflicted. Harris was treated, released, and lodged in the County Jail.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.

Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon
Aggravated Driving Under the Influence
