Our Opinion:
What May Have Allegedly Happened.

Based on the current information
That has currently been provided to us.

Over the weekend, between 7:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, and
Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 7:00 a.m., there were seven reported stolen autos, four of which
were recovered. There were also three attempted auto thefts reported. One of the stolen
vehicles was recovered in an alley, unoccupied, in the 2100 block of Grant Avenue. Rockford
Police officers identified two suspects for the alleged theft of that vehicle, a 16-year-old female
and a 15-year-old male. They were located a short time later and taken into custody. The juvenile
male was lodged in Juvenile Detention and the juvenile female was released.

After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charges listed below.

Juvenile Male, 15, Rockford
Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
Criminal Damage to Property

Juvenile Female, 16, Rockford
Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle

REMINDER: Please lock your doors, park in a well-lit area, don’t leave valuables in plain view inside
of your vehicle, and install an anti-theft device if possible.
