Allegedly What May Have Happened: Alleged School Shooting Threat
Location: Guilford School in Rockford, IL
Juvenile Male Charged after Threatening Social Media Messages
ROCKFORD, IL – On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Rockford Police were
made aware of potential threats via Snapchat directed toward Guilford High School. The threats
also included what looked to be some sort of firearm. Rockford Police SCOPE and INTEL Units
investigated the threats, and the suspect was identified as a 13-year-old male, who is not a
student at Guilford High School.
Rockford Police Patrol, SCOPE and Intel officers were able to locate and recover a BB gun that
matched what was shown in the threatening messages. On Sunday, October 8, 2023, the juvenile
was located and lodged in Juvenile Detention.
After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office
authorized the charge listed below.
