South Beloit Man Arrested For Child Endangerment After Fatal Shooting

On Friday, September 15th, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Winnebago Sheriff’s Department Deputies responded to the 200 block of Townline Avenue, in South Beloit, for a shooting.

Upon arrival deputies located a 10 year old boy suffering from a gunshot wound.  The boy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
After a investigation into the incident, the facts of the case have been reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorneys Office who authorized the following charges:

Jose M Sandovaltenorio, 30 years old, of South Beloit, Il, for child endangerment and no FOID.
*The charges are merely accusations and he should be presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.


Allegedly What May Have Happened:    Reports of a child shot

 Location:   200 block of Townline  Ave/S Beloit 

 Time:   8:05 pm

We’ve received reports that a child was allegedly shot and has possibly life threatening injuries tonight in South Beloit.

At approximately 8:05 this evening emergency personnel were called to the 200 block of Townline Avenue in South Beloit for reports of a child, approximately 10 years old, shot with injuries that are possibly life threatening.

MD1 was also dispatched to the scene and the child is being rushed to a local hospital.

Please avoid the area.

It is unknown if this was the result of a accident or intentional.

We will provide updates as they are released by officials.
