UPDATE on 10/6/2023:
It appears they finally pulled this vehicle out of the river.
The Loves Park Fire Department are currently doing a possible water rescue/recovery after receiving reports a citizen located a vehicle submerged underwater in the area between Shorewood Park and Martin Park.
The initial call came at around 5:30 this evening that a citizen located a possible vehicle submerged in the water somewhere between Shorewood Park & Martin Park.
It is unknown if anyone is actually inside the vehicle that is submerged or how long it has possibly been there.
Loves Park Fire currently has boats in the water and are searching in the areas between the parks/shoreline for this possible water rescue/recovery.
Multiple police and other agencies are now also involved in this possible rescue/recovery operation.
We will update if further information is released.
Avoid the area awhile.
Update 9/15: The vehicle has been verified and tagged and is ready for recovery. It’s unclear which agency is going to be doing the dive/recovery, if we get more information we will update again.
*Nothing has been released on this vehicle’s possible contents/status.
