A teacher (former teacher now) from Auburn High School is arrested today for allegedly grooming a student.

 

A teacher at Auburn High School has been arrested and charged with grooming according to the Rockford Police Department.

According to a press release, Marshall Pratt, 61, is alleged to have made inappropriate contact with a student.

A investigation was opened following a report the Rockford Police Department received on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

The Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit conducted the follow up investigation into this reported incident.

After reviewing the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized charges against Pratt.

Pratt was arrested earlier today after a warrant was issued by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office for the offense of grooming.

He is currently being booked at the Winnebago County jail.

According to his booking photo/information he has a court date scheduled for tomorrow at 1:30 in the afternoon. (which is Saturday)

Rockford Public Schools is said to have released the following statement:

“This individual no longer works for Rockford Public Schools. For any further information or comment, please contact the Rockford Police Department.”

 

**The charges against Pratt are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
