Rockford Juvenile Charged with Multiple Weapon Offenses ROCKFORD, IL – On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, Rockford Police SCOPE officers were on patrol in the 300 block of Cameron Avenue when they observed two juvenile males standing in front of an apartment building. As the squad vehicle continued to drive down the street, one of the juveniles ran off. After a brief foot pursuit, the 14-year-old juvenile was taken into custody and lodged in Juvenile Detention. SCOPE officers also located and recovered a loaded .22 rifle on his person. A photo of the weapon is on the second page of this release. After a review of the facts of the case, The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges: Juvenile Male, 14, Rockford Resisting Arrest Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (4 counts) As with any and all investigations, there may be further charges and arrests. The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
