At approximately 4:10 this afternoon emergency personnel were called to the 2000 block of Sharon Avenue in Rockford for reports of a house fire.
Smoke and fire were seen coming from the structure and a working fire was confirmed.
RFD is still on scene but it is believed that the fire is now under control at around 4:30 pm.
Please avoid the area, the street is shut down as a result of the fire.
We will update as further information is released.
Per RPD:
There is a structure fire in the 2000 block of Sharon Ave. This block will be closed to traffic until further notice. Please plan accordingly.
