Note: We have been told that an officer was involved in a physical confrontation.
And that a 10-78 was issued (All police available to respond)
And that at one point there were approx. 23 different police squads on scene.
Update from the Rockford PD:
On Sunday, May 14, 2023, at approximately
11:20 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to JJ’s Bar & Slots (215 7th Street) for a
report of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers located a 41-year-old man suffering
from several gunshot wounds. (Allegedly shot 6 times)
He was transported to a local hospital with life- threatening injuries
and is in critical condition. While officers were on the scene, they
were notified of a walk-in shooting victim, a 39-year-old man, with a non-life-threatening
gunshot wound to his arm. He advised officers that he was struck near 7th Street and 2nd
Avenue, but was otherwise uncooperative. This is an active investigation and further
details may be provided at a later date.
As with any and all investigations, there may be additional charges and arrests.
