To view the local police 72 hour call logs:

When the local police encrypted, they promised transparency.
To be honest, they lied about a lot of things over the years.
However, They do participate in providing a 72 hour police call log.
The call logs show information about the different types of calls the police responded to in the last 72 hours.
It is delayed by 2 hours and in the past the police have altered the data.
But it is “being transparent”
Many community members follow the police 72 hour call logs.
And they noticed the call logs were not being recently updated.
And reached out to us for answers.
Sadly, we do not have any answers.
But we can provide some insight on similar situations in the past.
That prompted the logs to stop from updating on their website.
In the past, we have noticed that when several violent crimes have been committed,
Or when an officer involved incident happens. The police stop updating the logs.
Coincidence? You be the judge…
When you view the police 72 hour call logs at:
https://data.illinois.gov/group/local-government
It is FREE to the public.
The call logs have not been updated on their website viewer, since March 14th.
There is good news though.
If you have a software program that is able to view a .CSV file,
you are able to view the updated call logs offline.
Programs like Excel should be able to view the file.
When you go to the website,
- Click on either Rockford PD or Winnebago County 72 hour call logs.
- Then on the upper right of the website, you see a DOWNLOAD button.
See the photo below. - Click on the download button.
- Then use a program to open that .CSV file, to view the data.
If you view the call logs, and see something of interest.
Shootings, Medical Shootings, Stabbings, Armed Robberies, Etc…
