Rockford Man Charged from Christmas Day Hit & Run
ROCKFORD, Ill. – On Sunday, December 25, 2022, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Rockford Police
officers responded to the 3200 block of Gilbert Avenue for reports of a female lying in the
roadway. Upon arrival, officers observed 48-year-old Lisa Judson, who appeared to be a victim of
a hit and run crash. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Rockford Police Traffic Investigators continued to investigate and were able to identify the vehicle
and locate the driver, 20-year-old Gerwarn Porter Jr., on Friday, January 27, 2023.
He was taken
into custody and lodged in the County Jail.
The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the below
listed charges against Porter.

The charge against Porter is merely an accusation.
He is considered innocent unless proven guilty
in a court of law.
