Winter weather will impact the region today-tonight. Biggest impacts during the day will be north of I-88/290, and especially toward the Wisconsin border. Tonight, impacts become widespread across region, some icing possible near/south of I-80.
After wintry precipitation ends early Sunday morning, dry and cold conditions are expected through the middle of next week. The coldest days will be Monday and Tuesday when high temperatures aren’t expected to get out of the teens most areas. Below zero wind chills are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning!
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 3 AM CST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Accumulating snow and hazardous travel expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois. * WHEN...From 9 AM Saturday to 3 AM CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Plan on snow covered roads and slippery travel. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest snowfall rates of one half inch to locally one inch per hour are expected to occur late this morning through evening. Snow could taper off or briefly end at times this afternoon and evening, mainly south of I-90. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
