On Sunday, December 18, 2022, at approximately 7:45 p.m.,
Rockford Police officers were notified of a walk-in gunshot victim at a local hospital. Upon
arrival, officers learned that the victim, a 16-year-old male, was picked up in the 1400 block of
Overdene Avenue, and dropped off at the hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Approximately five minutes later, officers were notified of a 15-year-old gunshot victim inside a
residence in the 1400 block of Barton Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers observed numerous
subjects inside the residence and met with the victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening
gunshot wound to his leg. During the investigation, officers located and recovered four handguns
and ammunition.
