At approximately 7:30 this evening emergency personnel were called to the 2700 block of Prial Avenue in Rockford for reports of a possible structure fire.
Initial reports are this was a fireplace fire that got out of control.
Upon arrival heavy smoke was seen coming out of the chimney and a large visible fire could be seen inside the house in the fireplace.
The Rockford Fire Department has been on scene about a hour and has the fire under control.
No injuries have been reported.
Per RFD:
is on scene at 2700 Prial Avenue. Fire confined to chimney and is now under control.
in the fire place with fire and heavy smoke coming from the chimney. Occupants of the dwelling were
home at the time of the fire and evacuated safely. Firefighters on scene found that the fire was
contained to the chimney structure and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes of arrival.
Crews remained on scene to overhaul and put out hot spots while conducting water damge control
inside the house. The cause was accidental. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
