We have received multiple reports of a large police presence with officers having their guns drawn
and SWAT is also said to be involved in the area of Kishwaukee Street and Barnum Road,
with the area being blocked off south of Brooke Road.
It’s unclear what exactly happened. This is believed to be a standoff type situation so avoid the area.
We will update if we receive further information and/or/if police release any information.
This incident may have started on 11th Street earlier in the evening.
Update: As of around 12:30 am, the situation appears to have been resolved.
As of 6 am Friday morning, police still have not released any information on this incident.
Sources said the incident began near the smoke shop on 11th st.
The suspect vehicle, a Maroon Pontiac G6 is alleged to have hit a police squad and fled.
The suspect ended up fleeing from the vehicle, into a house near Sawyer and Kishwaukee.
