RockfordScanner.com: A Suspect Attempts To Steal Wine, During A Police Event in Rockford

On Saturday, December 10, 2022, at approximately 9:55 a.m., after the “Presents
with PB & PA Unit #6” Event at Target on E. State Street, an adult male was observed stealing
bottles of wine and attempting to exit the store.

As he started to exit the store, the Target Asset Protection Supervisor
requested assistance from Rockford Police officers that were still on hand.
The suspect, 47-year-old William Carr, attempted to flee from officers, but was detained after a
brief struggle.

After a review of the facts of the case with The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, the
following charges were authorized.

William Carr, 47, Rockford

Retail Theft
Resisting Arrest
Outstanding Illinois Department of Corrections Warrant

The charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven
guilty in a court of law.
