Good evening, we’ve been closely watching observational data & latest computer model data coming in this evening & forecast appears to be on track. Bursts of moderate to heavy wet snow, possibly accompanied by thunder & lightning in spots, should result in hazardous travel.

All indications are that temps in the lowest few thousand feet of atmosphere will be flirting with 32°F Friday morning, which means areas north of I-80 will be precariously close to rain/snow line. In fact, many areas could see precipitation fluctuate between rain & snow at times.

If atmosphere ends up a degree or so warmer than currently forecast, higher chances of heavy, wet snow accumulation could end up in southern WI. Conversely, if atmosphere ends up a degree or so colder than forecast, areas in orange & yellow on the map could see heavy wet snow.

Bottom line, plan for slower than usual travel times tomorrow morning, including the potential for snow covered roadways. Highest chances of snow covered roads is north of I-90, with chances falling off quickly as you head south from I-90 to roughly near I-80.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT

FROM 3 AM TO 1 PM FRIDAY 

* WHAT...A period of heavy, wet snow expected. Total snow
accumulations of 2 to 4 inches.

* WHERE...Winnebago, Boone, McHenry and Lake IL Counties.

* WHEN...From 3 AM to 1 PM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Expect periods of sharply reduced visibilities and
hazardous travel due to slushy snow accumulations. The
hazardous conditions will likely impact portions of the morning
commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures are expected to warm above
freezing through the late morning and afternoon with road
conditions likely to quickly improve as snow ends.
