My opinion on what allegedly may have possibly happened,
Based on the information that has been currently provided:

The Rockford Fire Department received an automatic fire alarm from the installed fire alarm system in
the Winnebago County Court Building Complex. The initial fire engines reported nothing showing
from the exterior, however they quickly discovered smoke present in the basement of this historic
building. As fire crews moved deeper into the basement the smoke became dense and a fire was
discovered inside a storage rom. Firefighters fought high heat conditions and heavy smoke to bring this
fire under control. The fire started in an area not protected by a fire sprinkler system. After the fire was
extinguished it took several hours and specialized smoke removal equipment to remove the smoke and
poisonous gas from the interconnected buildings. One firefighter was injured fighting this fire and was
transported to the hospital and released.

Fire investigators are still in the process of determining the cause of the fire.

Estimated damages are a quarter of a MILLION dollars.
