Rockford PD released the following information:

On Sunday, October 30, 2022, at approximately 7:50 p.m.,
Rockford Police officers responded to a local hospital in reference to a walk-in shooting victim.

Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening
gunshot wound to his leg. During the investigation, officers met with the driver of the vehicle
used to transport the victim to the hospital, and observed a loaded handgun with a laser sight, in
plain view, inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was taken into custody and lodged in Juvenile Detention.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the facts of the case and authorized
the charges listed below.
