My opinion on what may have possibly happened,
Based on the information that has been currently provided:
RFD: 2800 block of Lund ave
The Rockford Fire Department responded to a report of a fire inside a 12 family apartment building.
The first fire vehicle arrived with 4 minutes to find a partially extinguished fire in the ceiling of a
laundry room. Fire crews acted quickly to locate and remove burning insulation from the ceiling area
before the fire could grow into a more significant structure fire. The fire affeced a vacant apartment that
was under renovation so no persons were displaced as a result of the fire. The fire started from some
open flame plumbing work that was being done as maintenance. The contractor doing the work acted
quickly with a portable fire extinguisher and called 911. The apartment building will remain open for
the other occupants. This fire was accidental in nature.
