My opinion on what may have possibly happened,
Based on the information that has been currently provided:

Sources are reporting a hit and run

It happened in the parking lot of Costco.

The victim had a White 2014 Taurus that was parked in the parking lot.

Damage is to the passenger side from the rear wheel well back and the bumper cover indicating it was someone backing out or possibly pulling through from the other lane since damage is heavier towards bumper.
