Rockford Scanner source sent us these photos of a hit and run accident.

Earlier today the snow fell and the roads were slippery.

Source saw this vehicle allegedly slide on the roadway and then hit this light pole, then take off from the scene.  It happened near the Ford Dealership in Boone County.

Rockford Scanner™: Hit And Run To A Pedestrian, Pedestrian Laying In The Roadway

On Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at approximately 7:40 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the 700 block of Whitman Street for reports of a serious hit-and-run traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an 18-year-old male Rockford resident was crossing Whitman Street when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. The vehicle, described as a large, older tan SUV, fled the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Rockford Police Department Traffic Accident Reconstruction team was deployed to the scene. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.

Whitman Street between Ridge and Winnebago will remain blocked for the next several hours.


Pedestrian Hit By A Vehicle In Rockford.

It happened around 7:45 am this morning in the area of Whitman and Haskell .

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near this location and is laying in the roadway.

Injuries were being reported, unknown on the severity of the injuries at the time of writing this.

UPDATE: Life threatening injuries.  The victim is a male, possibly a child/teen, via sources. The victim has severe head wounds.

The vehicle fled the scene, no suspect description

Update: RS fan Lightskinn Babiee  said: “It Was My 19 Year Old Brother He’s Been In ICU All Day & He Broke His Pelvis Bone In His Hip, His Upper Arm,& The 5th Bone In His Neck & His Face & Head Is Severely Scrapped Up😩He Has Severe Damage To Him But He Is Expected To Pull Through His Surgeries Thanks To Saint Anthony Hospital. Please Keep Us In Yall Prayers & Wish The Best For Us”

It happened around 9:50 at the stoplights at 20th st and Broadway he took off on Broadway towards alpine dipped into the side streets last seen Charles heading towards Alpine.

Suspect: 2010 or 11 Chevy Cruise or Malibu White with temp plate . Light skinned Male that gave us a middle finger as he was driving off.

Not much damage to either vehicle. Just the principle my elderly mom was in the car hit us shook the hell out of us and sped off.. No care of life or damage or just the right thing. I’m guessing no insurance or license or warrant.

A vehicle crashes into a house and the driver flees on foot

just after 8 AM this morning sources are reporting a vehicle has crashed into a house in the 1100 block of Rose in Rockford.

The driver got out and fled on foot. No suspect information due to the police encryption.

The vehicle was smoking inside the residence.

Unknown on injuries at this time.

“Hello Rockford Scanner,this is Kira Ashley. Earlier today my fiance and I were driving down Charles street and are looking for a red car that has cut in front of us while reckless driving and caused an accident,the car wouldn’t stop. This was a hit and run,as he fled the scene immediately.

The car that caused the hit and run is a maroon red dodge stratus sport. He is a dangerous driver. Here’s some damage he caused today not including another innocent bystander with a child in the car was hit because of the reckless driving as well.”

Around 7:30 pm tonight several emergency personnel were responding to Miriam and School st. 

There is a hit and run, rollover accident near this intersection. 

Injuries were reported, sounds like it might be a pretty serious accident scene. 

No suspect information, due to the encryption.

Rockford Scanner™: Two Events This Morning, Be Careful Driving



 

 

 

 Good morning everyone.  I wanted to remind everyone there are two events this morning that involves several people walking and running. 

The first event is the Pink Heals Winnebago 3rd Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk. That is being held at Martin Park at 8am.  http://www.pinkhealswinnebago.org/

 

The other is a road race that is starting at 9 am 
Paws for a Cause 5K Race. It is a 5k road race.  Which means there will probably be a lot of people on or near the roads nearby. It starts at Sportscore One on Elmwood at 9am.  I was unable to find a map of their route.
