Victim Shot After Being Involved In A Car Accident in Rockford


On Monday, October 31, 2016 at 0902 hours Rockford Police Officers responded to Swedish American Hospital for a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a 37 year old male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his left femur. The victim explained he was driving eastbound at the 1200 block of E. State St when he attempted to pass a red Nissan 4 door with Missouri plates driven by an unknown black male and change lanes. During the course of passing the vehicle, the victim claims he crashed into the front left of the Nissan with the rear right of his vehicle. Shortly after the crash, the victim pulled over to the curb at which time the suspect driving Nissan pulled to the driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle and fired one gunshot into the driver’s door. No evidence supports the reported crash. The victim does not have any life threatening injuries and could not provide any further information.

Vehicle Hits a Deer, 2 People Injured


Around 9:16 pm tonight emergency personnel were dispatched for an accident the 600 block of Iroquois (They also said S Main and Prairie) . Scanner traffic is saying a vehicle hit a deer near this location. 2 people are reported to be injured. The vehicle is smoking heavily. No other information 


Vehicle Crashes into A Pole, Injuries Reported

Around 3 pm today several emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Business 20 and Distillery rd in Boone County. Scanner traffic is saying a vehicle crashed into a pole. Injuries were being reported.

Man Passes Away On Rockford East Side, After Being Hit By Multiple Vehicles



Update: On Saturday, October 29, 2016 at approximately 5:45 a.m., Rockford Police and Fire department personnel were sent to the intersection of Sandy Hollow Road and Southworth in reference to a person who had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, a 34-year-male, who was a resident of Loves Park, was found lying in the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Rockford Fire paramedics.

The driver of a silver Toyota that struck the male stopped, remained at the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, it is unclear if the pedestrian was crossing the roadway or if he was walking in the roadway. Investigators are currently interviewing others who were in the area when the accident occurred.

The roadway around the location of the incident was shut down for several hours as members of the Rockford Police department’s traffic investigation unit completed the reconstruction of the accident scene.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. This is an ongoing investigation.


At approximately 5:45 AM on October 29, 2016, Rockford Police officers responded the 1700 block of Sandy Hollow to investigate a traffic crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located a victim that had been struck by multiple vehicles. The victim was declared deceased at the scene by members of the Rockford Fire Department. The vehicles that struck the victim remained on scene, and the drivers are being interviewed. The victim was a 35 year old white male. His identification is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
This is an ongoing investigation.



Log From Fireplace Causes House Fire in Winnebago


Around 5:37 am this morning several emergency personnel were dispatched to the 12300 block of Meadow Drive. Scanner traffic is saying there is a residential fire. The caller said she was laying on a blanket in the living room, when a log inside the fireplace rolled out and caught the blanket on fire and now it is quickly spreading through the residence. Everyone is reported to be out of the house. Several emergency personnel are en route




RS Fans: Armed Robbery & Shots Fired, Possible Shooting Victim At Rockford Business

On October 28th., 2016, at approximately 8:00 PM, the Rockford Police Department responded to the Sprint Store, 6602 E. State Street, for an armed robbery.  Upon arrival officers were advised that two suspects entered the store, one being armed with a handgun, and demanded phones.  Employees turned over an unspecified number of phones to the suspects who subsequently fled the store.  No one was injured in the incident.  The suspects are described as both being black males in their 20’s, wearing dark clothes with their hoods pulled up.  The one that was armed with a handgun was wearing sunglasses.  It is possible they fled the area in a dark color unknown make and model sedan.

At the time of this release no additional details were available

UPDATE: Original RS fans reports said armed robbery and shots fired and a possible shooting victim. After we posted this, RS fan said there was an armed robbery and the suspects tied up the employees and held guns to their heads. But no shooting victims.

Rockford Police are encrypted, and still have not released any information on this robbery or the Robbery from earlier when the suspects stabbed someone multiple times, right down the road. Unknown if the robberies are connected or not.  More info on that robbery and stabbing at

RS fans said that there is a bunch of police and crime scene units at the Sprint store on E State st, in the 6600 block. They said there was an armed robbery to the store and multiple shots fired. Unknown if anyone was shot. At least two fans said one person was shot, but not confirmed.

Victim Stabbed Multiple Times During Robbery To Business in Rockford


On October 28th at 5:28 pm Rockford Police responded to an aggravated battery with a knife incident at Wicked Hair Garage located at 4520 E. State Street.  2 unknown Hispanic males with their faces covered with masks confronted an employee in the business and cut him with a knife.  The suspects then fled the business on foot possibly to an unknown type vehicle.  The employee suffered non life threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.

Just before 5:30 pm tonight several emergency personnel were dispatched to 4520 E State st at Wicked Hair garage in reference to a robbery to a business and stabbing. A victim was stabbed multiple times during the armed robbery to the business.

No suspect information, due to the RPD being encrypted.

Plane catches fire on O’Hare runway

UPDATE: American Airlines says seven passengers and one crew member suffered minor injuries after a plane caught fire at O’Hare; everyone was evacuated successfully

CHICAGO — An American Airlines plane suffered a mechanical issue, and then part of the plane caught fire on the tarmac at O’Hare International Airport Friday afternoon, forcing the passengers and crew to evacuate by the emergency chutes.

American Airlines said the plane aborted takeoff due to an “engine-related mechanical issue,” and the 161 passengers and 9 crew deplaned on the runway. They have been transported back to the terminal in buses.

Bound for Miami, American Airlines flight 383 aborted takeoff around 2:35 PM, according to the FAA.

At least six ambulances were called to the scene, although it remains unclear if there were any injuries. The runway has been closed as the FAA investigates. Anyone flying through O’Hare should expect delays.

A spokesperson for American Airlines released a statement saying:

American Airlines flight 383, a 767 bound for Miami, aborted take off due to an engine-related mechanical issue. The 161 passengers and 9 crew deplaned on the runway and buses are enroute to pick up the passengers and bring them back to the terminal.
