“Today at around noon a woman was spotted on her phone driving east on Garrett lane in Rockford just before hopping the curb and taking out a set of mailboxes. She attempted to flee, was flagged by a neighbor because of scraping underneath her vehicle. Pieces are even left behind. She stopped in a driveway where neighbors asked if she was okay.”
Sources are reporting a hit and run in Loves Park.

” Looking for anyone who may have seen who it my mom and dads car in Loves Park. It happened last night on Walker Avenue and Riverside. Witness saw a red pickup truck. It was a hit and run to a parked car. Happened around 530. ”
From a witness:Bad accident at Bell School and State. The white car ran the red light and slammed the black car. The people in the white car fled on foot as far as we know. We stopped as we saw it happen my husband tried to catch them. The person in the black car seemed to have serious injuries and the older couple in the silver car was ok but pretty banged up.
From Rockford police:TRAFFIC ALERT: Please avoid N. Bell School Rd between State and Potawatomi/Argus. NB lanes are shut down and 1 SB lane is also closed due to a serious hit and run investigation. More info to follow as it becomes available.
Update: It was originally called in as a hit-and-run accident to a pedestrian. After police investigated the incident, they determined that it was not a hit and run. The victim and the driver had a dispute over some money. The victim then jumped onto the vehicle. The driver then swerved, and the victim fell off the vehicle The victim is being treated for road rash at a local hospital.
Sources are reporting a hit and run to a pedestrian.
It happened near Auburn and Central ave around 7:30 pm.
The vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled the scene. The pedestrian is still laying in the roadway. Sources told us the injuries are believed to be life threatening.
Suspect vehicle is described as a Black Suburban, last seen on Auburn.

On Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at approximately 7:40 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the 700 block of Whitman Street for reports of a serious hit-and-run traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an 18-year-old male Rockford resident was crossing Whitman Street when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. The vehicle, described as a large, older tan SUV, fled the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Rockford Police Department Traffic Accident Reconstruction team was deployed to the scene. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time.
Whitman Street between Ridge and Winnebago will remain blocked for the next several hours.
Pedestrian Hit By A Vehicle In Rockford.
It happened around 7:45 am this morning in the area of Whitman and Haskell .
A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near this location and is laying in the roadway.
Injuries were being reported, unknown on the severity of the injuries at the time of writing this.
UPDATE: Life threatening injuries. The victim is a male, possibly a child/teen, via sources. The victim has severe head wounds.
The vehicle fled the scene, no suspect description
