Rockford Scanner™: Hit & Run To A Pedestrian in Rockford, Victim Not Breathing And The Suspect Vehicle Fled The Scene


Vehicle has been located by the police. This is a confirmed fatal.  The victim is in her 50’s.  If you have any information, please call the RPD.

Suspect information is described as the following:
Small red SUV with no plates on the vehicle. Male black driver approx. 25 years old, westbound on Auburn.

Sources are reporting a hit and run to a pedestrian in Rockford.  It happened around 8:30 pm tonight in the 260 block of Auburn st, near On The Way.

A  female  has been hit by a vehicle and is currently not breathing.  The vehicle has fled the scene. Unknown on the description.

Note: It was originally reported as a small child approx. 10 years old, but sources are now reporting the victim may be an older female in her 50’s. So it is not clear on the victims age. Original reports said approx. 10 years old, newer reports are saying in her 50’s.  RPD has yet to release any information.



Rockford Scanner™: One Shooting Victim Just Now in Rockford, Still Developing

HARRISON SHOOTING UPDATE: The adult male victim shot in the 4900 block of Harrison Avenue succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. His identity is not being released at this time. RPD investigating the incident as a murder.

Sources are reporting a shooting victim in Rockford.

Sources are reporting numerous emergency personnel working a shooting scene in the 4900 block of Harrison ave, around 8:15 pm.

Reports of several gunshots were fired and one person was struck by the bullets.  Unknown on the severity of the injuries.

Update: The male victim around 30 years old was shot in the back. Life threatening injuries, according to sources.

Suspects are reported to be 2 black males, that fled on foot behind the apartment complex. Then got into a smaller Gray vehicle that was last seen on Harrison.

UPDATE from the RPD on the 2 different shooting scenes: RPD on scene of 2 separate shootings: one person shot in the 4700 block of Harrison. That victim was transported to hospital, condition unknown at this time. Location of second shooting still unclear, but female victim suffered non-life-threatening wound to arm.


Rockford Scanner™: Serious Accident in Rockford, Avoid The Area

UPDATE: Sources said  the vehicle allegedly hit another vehicle in the Mcdonalds parking lot, then fled the scene. While fleeing they crashed into a pole and the person was ejected from the vehicle. The person appeared to be a white female approx her mid 30’s was laying in the roadway approx. 15 feet from the vehicle not moving.  And another person inside the vehicle  (a male) was thrown into the backseat of the vehicle and was screaming for help.  Video by a source LayLow Fuentes. Sources are reporting a very serious accident in Rockford. It happened around 5 am near S Main and 15th ave. 

Reports of a serious accident near this location.  Injuries were being reported. Possible life threatening injuries.

RPD has told the citizens to avoid the area for awhile.  They have the area blocked off while investigating.

Reports are saying it was a head on collision.

Injuries were being reported.

Rockford Scanner™: Shooting Victims At A Machesney Park Bar


On Sunday, October 6, 2019 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Winnebago County Deputies were dispatched to Cronies’ Bar, 9032 N. Second St., in Machesney Park for a person shot.

Upon arrival, Deputies found a male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to Javon Bea Hospital Riverside where he was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses reported that the victim was involved in an altercation shortly before being shot.

A short time later, Javon Bea Hospital Rockton reported that a male had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim was treated and released for a non-life threatening.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives identified a suspect during the investigation and met with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney who authorized charges. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and the suspect was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail on the following charges:

~Kenneth J. Johnson Dob: 09/16/91 of Rockford

-First Degree Murder (8 counts)
-Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
-Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Bond was set at $5,000,000.00 cash.

The victim was identified as Russell D. Jefferson (age 31) of Rockford. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Monday.

The charges against Kenneth J. Johnson are merely accusations and he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Two victims are confirmed shot. One of the victims is confirmed dead. This is now a murder investigation. The other victim is allegedly shot in the hand/arm, and officials said that victim is suffering from non life threatening injuries.  Police have yet to release any suspect information.

Reports of 2 people have been shot during a birthday party at Cronies Grill at 9032 N 2nd st just after 1:30 am.  (We have been told there is possibly up to 4 shooting victims, 2 at the scene and 2 self transported) It is not yet known on the severity of the injuries at this time, we have been told that one of the victims possibly has life threatening injuries but officials have not yet confirmed this.  The victim with the alleged life threatening injuries was found laying on the dance floor area of the business. The other victim at the scene is alleged to have been shot in the hand/arm area. Reports of an argument, then several shots were fired. Two ambulances were on scene, along with numerous police officers from several jurisdictions. Police were searching for a suspect in the area, they found a vehicle with a gun inside it and think it is possibly related to this shooting, but they are not yet sure and are investigating it further.  Several officers and emergency personnel from several jurisdictions were on scene (WCSO, LPPD, Roscoe, Rockton, ISP, HRFD, NPFD).  Police have not released any information on this shooting yet, if they do we will update this.

Reports of at least one shooting victim at Cronies at 9032 N Second st in Machesney Park, around 1:40 am.  The victim is reported to be on the South side of the building.

Rockford Scanner™: Possible Death Investigation Near Cherry Valley

UPDATE: Police call logs show this as an “Unwanted Subject” call

Sources are reporting a possible death investigation. 

Around 11 pm there were emergency personnel in the 7600 block of Cherryvale  Blvd, Cherry Valley, IL. 

Sources said what appeared to be a body laying nearby and emergency personnel working a scene. 

As you know the local police are encrypted and have not released any information on this incident. 



Rockford Scanner™: Two Pedestrians Hit By One Vehicle in Rockford


RPD talked to WTVO but refused to talk to Rockford Scanner.  We called the media line, the man on the other end did not identify himself and said he wasn’t going to release any information to us.

So we can only run the information that IS provided to us. And that is a White vehicle hit 2 pedestrians near the Mcdonalds on W Riverside.  One victim has died. He is approx 25 years old. The other s in serious condition. He is approx 40 years old.  We were told by witnesses the white vehicle hit the 2 pedestrians, dragging one of the victims for some length, before pulling over into the parking lot of the Mcdonalds.  We can confirm the blood on the pavement where the initial impact was, was some distance to where the victim ended up. The victims shoe was in the roadway some distance away from the initial impact scene as well.

Again, RPD has refused to talk to Rockford Scanner, so we can not confirm anything at this time.  If the RPD chooses to release any information, we will update this later on.

They are doing CPR on one of the victims. Life threatening injuries are being reported on one of the victims. The victim is a male approx. 25 years old.

Rockford Scanner™: Fatal Hit & Run: Semi Hits & Kills A Motorcyclist, Then Flees The Scene


On September 25, 2019 at 8:08 a.m., Rock County Sheriff’s Deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, Janesville Fire/EMS, Rock County Sheriff Reconstruction Team, Rock County Drone Team, and the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to E. Highway 11 and Interstate I39/90 for a traffic accident with injuries. It was reported that one of the operators was possibly deceased and that the other vehicle had fled the scene.

Witnesses reported to deputies that a motorcycle was on the off ramp of I39/90 turning westbound onto Highway 11 when a westbound Semi Tractor Trailer, also on E. Highway 11, failed to stop at a red traffic signal and ran over the motorcyclist. After hitting the motorcycle the Semi continued westbound on Highway 11 and fled the area. The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect vehicle is described as a white Volvo sleeper tractor pulling a white trailer.

The Medical Examiner’s office has scheduled an autopsy and will release the identity of the victim after notification of the decedent’s next of kin.

Through witness statements made on scene, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Wisconsin State Patrol, Summit Illinois Police Department and Illinois State Police recovered the semi-truck involved in the hit and run. The driver, identified as 29 year old Branko Jovanovic of Lyons, IL. and his attorney met detectives at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and he was subsequently arrested for Hit and Run causing death. He is scheduled for his initial court appearance on Friday 09/27/19 at 3:00PM.

Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Sources are reporting a scene that has numerous emergency personnel from the Rockford Police, Rockford Fire and SWAT on scene in the 300 block of South ave.

Sources said a man lit a vehicle on fire.  Possibly with someone inside it, but not confirmed yet.

And is now currently in a standoff with police in the 300 block of South ave.

We have been told shots were fired, it is unknown if police fired their guns or the alleged suspect. (Note: We have been told by numerous sources that gunshots were heard. Only a handful of people said it was the vehicle)

The vehicle was fully engulfed.

RPD has not yet confirmed or released any information on this incident.

NEW CHARGE: The suspect in custody for the deadly 6th St. shooting on Tuesday now faces a new charge. Today, the Winn. Co. State’s Attorney’s Office authorized a charge First Degree Murder. That’s in addition to the 2 counts of Attempted Murder, 1 count Agg. Battery w/ Firearm

6TH STREET SHOOTING LATEST: The 30-year-old male victim shot on Tuesday at 6th St. and E. State has died from his injuries. His name is not being released at this time. Additional charges for the suspect, Jamie Pearson, are pending review by the SA’s Office

6TH STREET SHOOTING ARREST: 28-year-old Jamie Pearson was taken into custody last night following Tuesday’s shooting on 6th St. that injured 2 people. The incident was not random. He now faces attempted murder and aggravated battery charges

Sources told us the suspect vehicle is a dark colored impala with tinted windows, damage to the driver side rear quarter panel, no hubcap on the passenger side, and no front plate. Last seen southbound on 6th st

Sources are reporting a shooting victim in Rockford. 

It happened just before 3 pm today near State and 6th st.

Reports of several shots were fired and one person was shot in the head.

A victim was reported to have been seen laying in the roadway.

Possible multiple victims but not yet confirmed.

Police have the area blocked off.
