Sources are reporting a shooting victim in Belvidere.
It happened around 6:40 am this morning in the 200 block of Gail Court in Belvidere. Reports of a man has been shot near this location.
Sounds like the injuries are life threatening.
The circumstances of the shooting are not yet known.

UPDATE: Police said the victim is 85 years old and was shot in the head. He was alive at the scene, but was transported to OSF, where he passed away. They have not ruled out anything yet, and it is an open investigation. Belvidere Belvidere Police Chief Shane Woody said it was too early to call the death accidental, suicide or an act of foul play. The victims name has not been released, pending family notification.

Note: This is the 3rd incident in the last several weeks that a Rockford Police officer has fired their gun. 2 of those incidents, a person died.
Sources said the victim Randy Pierson was charged on multiple counts of theft and theft and swindle in Stearns County Minnesota. Court records show he failed to show up for court on the charges. There was an active warrant for failure to appear. Unknown if it is related to this shooting incident or not at this time.
On Wednesday, February 6, 2019 shorty before 11:30 a.m., a Rockford Police patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a white truck with Texas plates pulling a micro flagstaff lite trailer.
During the course of the stop, the driver of the vehicle produced a handgun.
Chief OShea, said the driver “produced a gun”.
He did not say “pointed” the gun. In the press briefing.
The officer fired multiple rounds.

In the photos, there is what appears to be an empty magazine near cone #10 in the photos near the back driver side tire.
The suspect died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound according to police.
The Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force has been called to conduct an independent investigation.
The officer involved was transported to the hospital per protocol. All information is preliminary
There is video of the incident according to police, but it will not be released to the public.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a white truck pulling a trailer just before 11:30 am.
During the traffic stop, police said a man produced a gun. The officer fired off multiple rounds at the suspect. Police said the suspect died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Sources said numerous gunshots were fired during the incident. One officer from RPD and one from ISP was also on scene, the RPD officer was the only officer who discharged their weapon during the incident.
Unrelated: Multiple vehicle accident with one rolled over on the bypass near S Main.
Numerous police have their guns drawn at the scene.
They requested an ambulance for an officer.
There is also reports of a dead body at the scene.
Unknown who the victim is at this time.
Reports of a major traffic backup in the area.
Witnesses said the officers got out of their vehicles and put on bulletproof vests and pulled out their rifles.
Police have shut down the ramps in the area. Still developing.
Note:There is a rollover vehicle in the area, unknown if it is related to this story.
Sources are reporting several emergency personnel working a scene.
It is on the bypass just west of Montague.
Numerous officers have their guns drawn on someone.
It is not yet clear what is going on, but it definitely is a dangerous situation.

Sources have told us the victim (Male in his 50’s) was transported to a local ER and the driver remained on scene until the RPD released them. The vehicle that hit the pedestrian was registered out of Florida.
Sources are reporting a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Rockford.
It happened around 8:10 pm near the Walgreens on 11th st.
Sources said the injuries were possibly life threatening and not breathing. And then was able to be revived and is now breathing.
Several emergency personnel are on scene. Avoid the area.

A van has slid under a semi in the area of Freeman Parkway and Milwaukee.
Injuries are being reported, reported to be unresponsive.
Unconfirmed reports are saying this is a fatal accident.

Update: 1 person in the van is confirmed fatal. State Recon is on scene
A fatal accident that occurred at 9:46 p.m. Saturday is under investigation at the intersection of Milwaukee Road and Freeman Parkway in the City of Beloit.
Two vehicles were involved, a semi truck and a minivan. The driver of the minivan, a 56-year-old man, was pronounced deceased on scene. His name is not being released at this time. The driver of the semi truck was uninjured. No other individuals were involved in the accident.
The Wisconsin State Patrol completed the accident reconstruction and the investigation is ongoing. Witness statements advised that the driver of the minivan was headed westbound on Milwaukee Road when he ran the red light and then hit the semi truck.

FATAL ACCIDENT ARREST: A Rockford man is now in custody following a fatal crash. On January 21, 2019, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the 1200 block of North Alpine Road for a two-vehicle accident. Upon their arrival, officers learned the male driver of a silver car was traveling northbound on North Alpine Road when he rear-ended a gray, sport utility vehicle which was also northbound on Alpine Road. The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old Rockford man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released at this time. The passenger of the silver car was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The Rockford Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit conducted a follow-up investigation which revealed speed and alcohol as factors in the accident. The driver of the silver car, the at-fault vehicle, was identified as 25-year-old Joshua Thomas. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the charges below. A warrant was obtained, and on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, Thomas was taken into custody.

Thomas was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Thomas are merely accusations, and he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sources are reporting a fatal accident on the East side.
It happened just before 1 am near the 1200 block of N Alpine.
A vehicle rolled over and caught on fire. The person inside has passed away.
Others were able to get out, and need medical assistance.

Source said he witnessed a vehicle excessively speeding (Possibly over 100 mph) when the accident happened. A Silver vehicle possibly a Sanata hit a Jeep.
Police are denying any chases.
RPD says a Silver car and a Gray SUV were northbound on Alpine when the car rear-ended the SUV. The driver of the SUV was the one who passed away on scene. Passenger of the car was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries, and the driver of the car was transported with non life threatening injuries. They said speed was a factor in the accident.
